Artist Statement
Emily Orton is a passionate art and art history student. Her works focus on what she calls "re-creation arts" artforms that are typically done by machines in our modern age. She creates prints in the printmaking lab, hand sewn binding in the publications center, and creative silversmithing in the silversmithing lab. Her favorite subjects are snails and mushrooms for prints, "saddleback" or multiple openings books for bookbinding, and mixed metals / media in silversmithing.
Emily hopes to get her bachelor's degree in Art History form UNLV.
