Banning this book limits access to crucial information and perpetuates the shame and silence around a natural bodily function. When girls are not educated and made to feel shame about their bodies, it becomes easier for systems of oppression to continue. This book is banned because a confident and educated woman is perceived as a significant threat to the patriarchy.
